Wine: Italian export, positive quarter

Italian wine exports closed the first quarter of this year on a positive note. The year-on-year balance indicates a +3.1% increase in volumes exported by our country's wine companies, compared to French competitors who remain at -0.2%.

Bottled DOP red wines returned to positive figures (+2.8% in value, amounting to 459 million euros), with double-digit growth in IGP white wines (+12.7%), and the strong performance of Prosecco (+7.8%) and Asti DOCG (+7.5%) among sparkling wines.

A divergence is confirmed between the 2024 results for EU demand (-0.6% in value) and non-EU demand (+7%), with slight growth (1.3% in value) in the top 5 markets, which together account for 59% of the export.
