Use of Bioristor on tomato plants
Use of Bioristor on tomato plants has allowed a 45% reduction in water consumption, while also improving the quality of agricultural production.
Bioristor is a sensor that, when applied directly to the plant stem, is able to monitor the plant’s health in real time and communicate directly with farmers, thanks to photovoltaic energy and a connection system.
The project was initiated by Mutti, a leading company in the European tomato derivatives market, in collaboration with the Institute of Materials for Electronics and Magnetism of the CNR. The Bioristor had already been used to monitor kiwi, grapevine, and apple plants.
Thanks to an irrigation protocol based on artificial intelligence, it was possible to achieve a 45% water savings compared to conventional methods.
