The Puglia Region, in collaboration with Puglia Sviluppo, participated in the event in view of a fast-growing market for new building construction, which fuels demand for furniture, home furnishings and textiles, as well as fixtures, lighting, kitchens and bathroom fittings.
Visitors at the previous edition numbered more than 22,000 not only from Gulf countries but also from India, Africa and Central Asia. If we add to this the appreciation towards Italian products, the opportunities for the delegation companies are amplified.
"Our designers supported by the commitment of manufacturing companies, are driving the market with their new proposals," emphasizes Puglia Region Economic Development Councillor Alessandro Delli Noci. "This is also why the Apulian wood-furniture sector is showing signs of vitality and growth trends that have never been recorded in the last ten years: more than 478 million euros of turnover on foreign markets in 2022 with a 57 percent growth compared to 2019, the pre-crisis year. In this context, a leading role among Apulia's partners is represented precisely by the United Arab Emirates, a vital and strategic market, protagonist of another record: in fact, the UAE is the country to which total Apulian exports grew the most in 2022 compared to 2021: +52%. This is due to a winning combination of a vibrant growing country, the dynamism of Apulian companies, but also the role of the Apulia Region's initiatives with its presence at the main Emirates trade fairs and a varied catalog of facilitative tools for companies, which has enhanced their competitiveness in foreign markets. This is why participation in Index is a great opportunity for our region and its companies, but also for international operators who, discovering or rediscovering it during the event, will want to come and invest in Puglia."
