Verona: first Muvin Foundation international conference
One year after its establishment, the Wine Museum Muvin Foundation organized an internationally significant event in Verona to discuss the new challenges faced by European Wine Museums. The event saw the participation of some important international entities, including La Cité des Climats et des Vins de Bourgogne and Cité du Vin in Bordeaux (France), the Museum of Wine Culture Vivanco (Spain), and World of Wine - Wow (Portugal). Also present were the Piedmontese Wine Cellar Castello Grinzane Cavour, the Archaeological Park of the Colosseum, Muvit - Wine Museum of Torgiano, and the Wine Museum of Berchidda (Italy).
The themes addressed by the speakers were: wine, traditions, territories, and tourism.
Roberta Garibaldi, president of the Scientific Committee of the Foundation, commented on the Italian situation, stating, "In the Bel Paese, there are 46 wine museums and 83 taste museums, a number higher than other countries such as France and Spain. However, they are often small and medium-sized entities, mainly owned by municipalities (41% of wine museums and 52% of taste museums) or companies (33% and 24%). This plurality well represents and testifies to the richness of the Italian food and wine culture, which boasts the highest number of certified productions in Europe. There are aspects to be highlighted through collaborative efforts. The project initiated in France, where the Ministry of Culture has recently supported the creation of a European network of Wine Museums, serves as a model."
