The Rome-Belgrade Axis: New Strategic Routes

The institutional and trade mission to Belgrade marks a fundamental milestone in the consolidation of Italian companies within the Western Balkans. Serbia continues to prove itself as a logistics and production hub of primary importance for companies intending to export technologies or relocate high-value-added phases, benefiting from a regulatory framework that is increasingly favorable to foreign investment.

The integration of supply chains between Italy and Serbia offers concrete opportunities in both industrial B2B—with particular focus on instrumental mechanics and the energy transition—and B2C, thanks to the growing demand for finished "Made in Italy" products. For Italian businesses, the Belgrade area represents a privileged platform for expansion toward Central and Eastern Europe. Simultaneously, the strengthening of this commercial axis allows Serbian and international buyers to gain direct access to the innovations of Italian companies, facilitating the reception of commercial news and the signing of direct supply agreements.

In this scenario, Italian international trade fairs serve as the natural stage to consolidate these relationships. Promoting Italian exhibition events to Balkan operators is a priority to ensure that the import-export flow remains dynamic and supported by a network of solid and transparent institutional contacts.

Maurizio Carnevale, President of Federcamere, issued the following statement regarding the mission:

"The centrality of Belgrade in our internationalization strategies is no coincidence. Serbia recognizes the Italian model as an irreplaceable technological and commercial partner. As Federcamere, we are committed to transforming these missions into tangible opportunities for our SMEs, ensuring they can operate in a fast-growing market with the security of constant institutional support. Consolidating trade routes with Belgrade means strengthening the international projection of the entire national system."
