New business plan for tourism in Italy
Tourism also becomes digital and sustainable, in line with twin transitions, in the Meloni government's new Tourism Strategic Plan 2023-2027.
Promotion, investment, quality, inclusion, training and sustainability are the pillars the plan highlights, aimed at ensuring competitiveness of the offer through renewed and personalized services.
The document was sent to the House and Senate after already receiving the green light from the State-Regions Conference in early March. The relevant committees of the two chambers will now have to give their opinions before the text can be adopted by the government.
"A priority economic sector, driving and not ancillary to others, tourism represents a flywheel for the growth of many nations, including certainly Italy, translating into a development factor capable of amplifying the impact of the investments made in terms of GDP, employment, and the reputation of the Italian brand," writes the Minister of Tourism, Daniela Santanchè, in the introduction to the Strategic Plan.
The planned initiatives, which include the involvement of all stakeholders, aim to "reconfirm Italy's leadership position in the global tourism market," Santanchè says. Therefore, the Plan is geared to "lead the tourism industry ecosystem in the development of new, more attractive, tourist and experience-oriented, but equally managerial lines of offer, creating value networks, physical and/or digital, according to the service ecosystem approach."
