Made in Italy creativity seeks artisan talent
The Italian fashion system recorded revenues of 98.3billion euros in 2022, surpassing pre-Covid levels and confirming the sector's recovery.
Forecasts of annual growth between 5 and 10 percent in the coming years signal a positive future for a historically thriving and recognized industry. To sustain this growth, however, it is essential to strengthen the production base, namely artisans and skilled workers, who are becoming increasingly hard to find.
By 2027, there will be an estimated shortage of 346,000 professionals in the fashion, design and hospitality sectors, threatening the excellence of Made in Italy.
To meet this challenge, it is crucial to attract and train new artisans, overcoming the bias toward technical and vocational schools. Today, craft professions offer rewarding paths, combining creativity and sustainability, and are crucial to the future of the Italian fashion industry.
